About The Proposed Bandimere Speedway Redevelopment

After 65 years of operations, Bandimere Speedway has permanently closed its existing site in the Rooney Valley, recognizing the increasing incompatibility with recent surrounding new development. Today the site is under contract to be sold to Copart, a global leader in online auto auctions, and proposed annexation, zoning and rezoning applications for the approximately 150 acre site have been submitted to the Town of Morrison. The proposed redevelopment will:
- Be less impactful, lower intensity use – restricted access, limited hours of operation, reduced noise, reduced traffic, reduced lighting
- Provide development opportunity for retail/commercial/restaurant uses adjacent to Rooney Road, generating tax revenues for the Town of Morrison
- Provide buffer opportunities and potential trail connections
- Not include any residential development or need for expanded water/sewer usage
- Provide potential offsite benefits through a development agreement with Morrison
- Honor the legacy use of the site
